The Witcher Gets New Facts Via Dev
For the past 11 years, a certain RPG franchise went from cult favorite to worldwide hit. The Witcher franchise. Made by CD Projekt Red and based off the hit books born in Europe, these three main titles, as well as two spinoff titles, have been doing well nearly since launch, and now that the trilogy is complete, people are going back to see what they missed. The franchise has celebrated its 11 year anniversary, and the team at CD Projekt Red has been doing some very interesting things for it
Primarily, they’ve been going onto Twitter and making posts showing off “little known facts” about The Witcher franchise. For example, one post was about a ghost ship that’ll appear at certain times that many fans never see. Or, they talk about how certain items in a place or scene change based on what is going on in the game. It’s all very insightful.
The latest one was focused on the third main game, Wild Hunt. According to the dev team, Geralt was going to get a special “X-Ray Vision Mode” called Focus Mode. This mode would’ve allowed him to look inside monsters and then strike them with incredible precision for maximum damage. So basically like the X-Ray punches of recent Mortal Kombat titles. Obviously this didn’t make it into Wild Hunt, so they likely thought that it wouldn’t really add anything to the game.
It’s fascinating to hear these facts about the games, because given the size and scope of The Witcher titles, especially Wild Hunt, there was clearly a lot of work that went into them. There’s a reason why these games have sold 33 million copies worldwide all told, a feat that many RPG franchises would love to get among three titles. Stay tuned for most postings so that you don’t miss any tidbits.
