Further news has been revealed regarding American McGee’s Alice game, which lies in the hands of EA.
It’s ultimately up to Electronic Arts as to whether they will bring a new installment to the franchise, which would be in the form of McGee’s Kickstarter campaign entitled Out of the Woods. Should the crowdfunding campaign be successful, then it should aid the game in gaining a publisher’s backing, which is something that has troubled any ability to develop a new Alice entry, or at least without as many restrictions.
McGee recently gave a glimpse into his vision in an interview: “Yes, I have lots of ideas for the next Alice game. My favorite is to travel back in time to when Alice is still in Rutlidge Asylum. She spent many years drifting in and out of consciousness during that period. I’d like to explore where her mind went – what Wonderland looked like at that time.”
Hopefully the campaign will be a success and will achieve the backing of EA, and we will see a brand new entry into the Alice series. Time will tell if the project will get the backing, depending on how keen its fanbase are to see a new title being made.
