Cyberpunk 2077 Demo Was “Work-In-Progress” Version

Leave it to the gaming community to try and make something out of nothing. For over a year now, we’ve been getting more and more teases about Cyberpunk 2077, the newest game from CD Projekt Red. Then, at E3 2018, the game got its first viewing, and it made quite an impression. Since then, we’ve gotten more looks into the game, its visuals, its gameplay, etc. But many people have “noticed” that the “graphics” aren’t quite up to snuff. Making some think that the game won’t have the graphical quality that the dev teams former game, The Witcher, had.

GamingBolt decided to bring this up to the team during an interview with Miles Toast, who responded thusly:

“The demo gameplay video was recorded from a work in progress version of the game and we were a bit uncertain if we should release it to the general public as we didn’t want to commit to any particular design. A lot can change between now and launch, but you can be certain that we’re not going to release a game we’re not happy with.”

Cyberpunk 2077

Given the quality that CD Projekt Red has put into their titles, especially The Witcher trilogy, it’s wrong for gamers to think that they would slack on Cyberpunk 2077, especially when they’re putting a lot of time and effort into the game.

On the topic of gameplay, there was a question of “emergent gameplay” that got an interesting reaction.

“Too early to really talk about this. If it makes sense, and if we could pull it off in a way that feels organic and meets our quality standards, then maybe. But we’re certainly not going to be artificially extending the playtime by pushing more content into the game. If it can add to our story-driven experience in a meaningful way, we’re not closed off to anything. Personally, I think our strength lies in creating handcrafted experiences.”

No release date on the title as of yet.
