Nintendo Still Knows Of Desire For Waluigi In Smash Bros
We are only a few months away from the release of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and with each new Nintendo Direct and character reveal (of which there might be more soon), the hype gets even more out of control. But, ever since its reveal at E3, there have been a growing crowd of people who have decided that one character above all others should be in the game…Waluigi. This group was angry with the reveal because the character was only shown to be an Assist Trophy and not a playable character.
Nintendo has made it clear in the past that they know of the desire for Waluigi to be playable in Smash Bros Ultimate. Nintendo of Canada PR representative Andrew Collins talked with gaming site Okay Cool and noted this:
“I think it’s great when something builds naturally because, you know, as a marketer, when you have something that goes viral like that it’s brilliant,” he explained. “You can’t buy that. You can’t create it. And when the fans do something like that, it’s amazing. But it’s so good to see from a passionate side of things. And let’s face it, it’s funny.”
“I’ve seen some of the photos. I’ve seen some of the artwork that people have created, and it’s fantastic to see their passion. And, you know, there are some gifted people out there.”
While this doesn’t mean anything in the large scale, it’s clear that Nintendo is keeping gamers in mind for the future. However, while many Smash Bros gamers want Waluigi in the game, it’s hardly unanimous. In fact, there are many gamers who are disappointed by other Assist Trophies not being playable characters. Like Shovel Knight, Bomberman, Zero, Lyn from Fire Emblem, and more.
There are only a few character slots left according to Sakurai, who gets in will be revealed over the next little while until December 7th arrives.
