Insomniac Interested In Making Another Spider-Man Title
If you’ve been paying attention to the internet over the last few days, then you’ll know that the Spider-Man title from Insomniac for the PS4 not only released, but it’s getting a lot of praise from both critics and gamers. In fact, many are taking advantage of the Photo Mode to show what they’re doing in the game. The title has been in the works for a while, but all indications go to saying that Insomniac killed it in both looks, feel and story. So…would they be up for doing another?
Community Director at Insomniac, James Stevenson, talked with Fandom about the topic and noted this:
“Sure we’d be open to another licensed game. I feel like the question hints to whether there are downsides to it. It’s different of course; you have other people involved who can tell you whether something is on-brand or off-brand, which is different for us than, say, working on a Ratchet & Clank.”
He went on to talk about what it meant to make the game feel like a Spider-Man title:
“But it’s not like we wanted to go too far away from what makes Spider-Man great. It had to be an authentic experience, so in some ways, it’s helpful having extra people around who know the character so well and are pushing you to make things better. Working with Marvel probably drove us to be better than we can be when we’re working on our own thing.”
He also noted that Marvel was incredibly supportive of their efforts to make the game, and didn’t put up “roadblocks” to hinder their development.
So, should they make a sequel? Probably. For Batman fans, they know that Arkham Asylum was a great game with an original story. And Rocksteady used what they learned in that game to make Arkham City, which many agree is the best comic book video game of all time. So…maybe Insomniac should see if they can do the same.
