When the toys-to-life trend began in gaming, Nintendo jumped on it with their Amiibo characters. These little figurines of their characters would allow players to summon things, get bonuses, and even save data that they could take to other peoples houses. The crazy may not be as big as it once was, but they’re still popular. Plus, the Amiibo’s are still growing in ranks via new Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS games. Take Metroid: Samus Returns for example.
The remake of the second Metroid game is getting two Amiibo, one of Samus in a classic pose from the cover of the original game, and an actual Metroid. Squishy and all. For a while, Nintendo has been mum about what these Amiibo can do, but now, a picture has been found that shows off all functionality for not just them, but previous Metroid Amiibo as well.

Some of these unlocks will be must-use for fans. Including getting the games soundtrack, special art from the original game, and of course, getting to replay the game with the Fusion suit from Metroid: Fusion! Oh, and there’s in-game boosts too, that’s nice.
Metroid: Samus Returns was one of the biggest surprises at E3, and everyone who has gotten their hands on it has been overjoyed at how well it plays. This is 2D Metroid at its finest, and just to have Samus back on a handheld in the RIGHT way is classic.
Plus, when you add that to the upcoming Metroid Prime 4, that means we’re getting two Metroid games in likely as many years! That’s too good to pass up. So, get your Amiibo’s ready, Metroid: Samus Returns arrives on 3DS September 15th.
