Everyone knows that Steam is a really big digital distribution platform, but the amount of people that use it monthly is insane.
A lot of wealthy companies are trying to make way for their own digital distribution platforms. The latest example being the Epic Games Store, which introduced a refund policy recently, which we covered. But it seems like Steam is an even bigger giant than most of us realized, as this PCGamer article tells us just how many people log on into Steam each month. It’s staggering to hear that there are 90 million monthly Steam users.
The rise of PC gaming isn’t stopping anytime soon, and the increase of digital distribution platforms is evidence of that. Everyone once a piece of the pie, and more competition means that these platforms will better their services to attract new customers and keep old ones. We, the customers, can only benefit from these new ones, and let’s hope Steam keeps improving as well.
As you can see, the Valve’s platform is growing exponentially, as you can see the peak concurrent user count is 18.5 million. The company is obviously getting a lot of money and a lot of new users but from where? Well, it seems that Asia is one of the three top dogs when it comes to the number of users that originate from that area.
What are your thoughts on this? Will Steam continue to dominate the digital distribution market, or will some of the new ones replace it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below!
