Ever since the release of Pokémon GO, it has been downloaded over half a billion times worldwide. The game is so successful that every age group can be found in its active player base.
Tan Nai Keow, 84, lives in Singapore and has been given an iPhone 7 Plus from his grandson for Christmas, started playing Pokémon GO this March. According to her statement, she begins playing the moment her eyes open in the morning, and only stops after dinner at the end of the day.
She is currently at level 34 and plays because the characters are cute and while she is playing she does not feel lonely. Currently, 370 different Pokémon have been caught by her. She has captured all the ones available in Singapore. She says she does not understand the English names, but if she sees a bird or a dog, she just catches it. She is currently working hard to reach level 35 and hunts Pokémon while cycling.
Tan takes part in community building and leads various events and groups, but gaming is also a great way for people like her to connect with other people.
