From the ashes of Torchlight Frontiers rises the true sequel to the Torchlight, Torchlight 3, the ARPG that we were all waiting for.
Torchlight Frontiers died so that Torchlight 3 could live. Even though Torchlight Frontiers was supposed to be a shared-world RPG, basically an MMO, the idea obviously didn’t work out. The game has been delayed, it ran into other problems, and in the end, the whole shared-world concept got scrapped. But we’re getting Torchlight 3 so that’s good news. I don’t think anyone really loved the idea of Torchlight Frontiers. I may be wrong but a lot of us that loved the first and second game expected Torchlight 3 and nothing else. Seems like we’re getting exactly that in the end.
Frontiers would have been a free-to-play title. Torchlight 3 is going to be a premium title. You buy it once and you own the game. You can play it both offline and online. Apparently the devs came to this decision after gathering massive amounts of feedback from the alpha testers. As I’ve said, I’m sure Torchlight fans weren’t all that ecstatic about an MMO Torchlight title. We’re getting a true sequel to the first and second game instead. The in-game real-money store is also being removed. You will be able to pick up Torchlight 3 on Steam once it launches!
You can pick up both Torchlight and Torchlight II on HRK Game right now for a great price!
