Take care of the crew that considers this boat their home. Their mental and physical health needs to be taken care off. Make sure that they are not hungry, tired, or feeling down. A crew that is not satisfied won't perform well in any kind of skirmish. The game has a complex damage system. Random situations will happen, and you need to stay calm during these times and find a way to get out alive while taking down your enemy. Sometimes the whole crew gets to be saved, but other times some sacrifices must be made in order for the majority to live. Your ship will go across the open sea, encounter both allies and enemies, and your decision making will either save or destroy your future.
UBOAT gives extensive freedom to its players. Sometimes you need to disable certain devices in order to make your accumulators last longer. Sometimes your crew needs to stay in their bunks if you want to save some oxygen. When their morale is low, music from nearby radio stations or a session of Skat might help them. Kriegsmarine headquarters will send assignments to you which aren't linear and may evolve as you receive more orders or encounter some unexpected issues. Finish these missions and you will get more budget for your ship.
